Antigua & Barbuda Falcons produced a dominant all-round display to hand Guyana Amazon Warriors their first defeat of the CPL 2026 season.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons ended their CPL 2026 league campaign in impressive fashion with a commanding 65-run victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence. The Falcons produced a powerful batting display before their bowlers dismantled Guyana’s chase, handing the Warriors their first defeat of the season.
Batting first, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons posted 182 for five in their allotted 20 overs. The visitors accelerated dramatically during the final stages of the innings, scoring 72 runs in the last five overs to turn a competitive total into a formidable one.
Shadab Khan was one of the major contributors to the late surge. The Pakistan all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 30 from just nine balls, providing the Falcons with a remarkable finishing burst. His aggressive hitting helped Antigua finish strongly after they had spent much of the innings building their total.
Guyana’s chase never developed as planned. The Amazon Warriors lost wickets at regular intervals and struggled to establish partnerships against a disciplined Falcons bowling attack. They were eventually dismissed for 117 in only 14.2 overs, falling well short of the 183-run target.
Alzarri Joseph was the standout bowler for Antigua, claiming four wickets for 41 runs. His spell played a major role in breaking the back of Guyana’s batting lineup, while Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim also contributed during the decisive middle overs.
The result was particularly notable because Guyana had been unbeaten throughout the league stage before the encounter. Their previous results had established them as one of the strongest sides in CPL 2026, making Antigua’s comprehensive victory an impressive statement.
For the Falcons, the win provided a strong conclusion to their league campaign. The team demonstrated balance in both departments, with the batters producing an imposing total and the bowlers defending it with considerable authority.
Although Guyana suffered their first defeat, their earlier performances had already established them as a major contender in the competition. The Falcons, meanwhile, can take significant confidence from a performance that showed their ability to compete against one of the tournament’s leading sides.
