Rwanda Beat Botswana By 55 Runs In Continental Cup Match

Rwanda posted 192 for two before restricting Botswana to 137 for seven to secure a convincing 55-run Continental Cup victory.

Rwanda made an impressive start to their Africa Continental Cup campaign with a 55-run victory over Botswana at the Gahanga Cricket Stadium in Kigali. A powerful batting performance gave Rwanda control of the contest before their bowlers successfully defended the substantial total.

Rwanda were sent into bat and responded with an aggressive innings, reaching 192 for two from their 20 overs. The hosts were able to maintain a strong scoring rate throughout the innings, putting Botswana under considerable pressure before the chase even began.

Captain and wicketkeeper-batter Didier Ndikubwimana led the way with an excellent 69 from 60 deliveries. He struck six fours and four sixes, combining controlled batting with powerful strokes when opportunities presented themselves. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Hamza Khan also played an important role, smashing 53 from only 34 balls. His innings contained three fours and four sixes and provided Rwanda with the acceleration needed to reach a score approaching 200.

David Uwimana contributed an unbeaten 30 from 18 balls, including three sixes, to ensure Rwanda finished their innings strongly. The combined efforts of Rwanda’s top and middle order gave Botswana a difficult target of 193.

Botswana began the chase with the challenge of maintaining a demanding scoring rate. Rwanda’s bowlers kept the pressure on, taking wickets at important moments and limiting Botswana’s ability to build a match-winning partnership.

Botswana eventually finished on 137 for seven after 20 overs, leaving Rwanda 55 runs ahead. The result reflected Rwanda’s superiority with the bat and their ability to control the chase during the second innings.
