India have announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, with Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer set to lead the two formats.
India have announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball home series against the West Indies, with the selectors naming separate leadership groups for the ODI and T20I formats. Shubman Gill will captain the ODI side, while Shreyas Iyer has been appointed T20I captain for the five-match series. The squads also include several established stars and promising young players.
The West Indies tour of India will begin with a three-match ODI series. The first ODI is scheduled for September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by matches in Guwahati on September 30 and New Chandigarh on October 3. The series will give India another opportunity to develop combinations ahead of future major white-ball assignments.
India’s ODI squad includes Shubman Gill as captain and KL Rahul as vice-captain, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also returning to the ODI setup. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and other players are also part of the squad.
The T20I squad has a different leadership structure, with Shreyas Iyer named captain and Tilak Varma his deputy. Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav are among those selected.
The T20I series will begin on October 6 in Lucknow before moving to Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The five-match schedule gives India an extended opportunity to assess players and combinations in the shortest format.
The selection also highlights India’s continuing effort to balance experienced international players with younger talent. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has already attracted attention during his early international career, is included in the T20I squad, while players such as Jaiswal and Reddy remain part of India’s wider white-ball plans.
The West Indies series forms part of India’s 2026-27 home season, which includes 22 international matches across four visiting teams. After the West Indies, India are scheduled to host Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe before the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia begins in January 2027.
