Bangladesh Fast Bowler Listed in USD 80,000 Bracket
Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has entered the ILT20 Season 5 player auction pool in the highest base-price category of USD 80,000. The Bangladesh pacer is among a group of prominent international cricketers who have been placed in the top bracket ahead of the auction scheduled for October 1 in Dubai.
The ILT20 auction has attracted more than 200 players from 23 countries. The registered players have been divided into three base-price categories of USD 80,000, USD 40,000 and USD 10,000, giving franchises a range of options as they look to complete their squads for the fifth season.
Taskin is part of a high-profile USD 80,000 group that includes Babar Azam, Phil Salt, Tom Banton, David Willey, Fakhar Zaman, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Alzarri Joseph, Wanindu Hasaranga, Faf du Plessis, Alex Hales, Naseem Shah and several other international players.
The top base-price category places Taskin alongside several established names from major cricketing nations. His inclusion reflects the interest in experienced fast bowlers for franchise T20 competitions, where teams often look for pace options capable of operating during the powerplay and at the death.
The ILT20 auction will be held at the ICC Academy Indoors in Dubai. Six franchises will enter the auction with different amounts available, with MI Emirates holding the largest reported purse at USD 1.39 million. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have USD 1.365 million, while Desert Vipers and Gulf Giants have USD 1.305 million each.
Teams must complete squads of between 18 and 23 players and meet specific requirements concerning players from Full Member nations, Afghanistan, Ireland, the UAE and other associate nations. These regulations will influence how franchises use their auction budgets and which international players they target.
ILT20 Season 5 is scheduled to run in the UAE from November 22 to December 20. Taskin’s place in the highest base-price category means his name will be among the players closely followed when the auction gets underway, with his eventual franchise destination to be determined by the bidding process.
