White Ferns Strengthen Squad Ahead of Australia Series
New Zealand have recalled four players for their upcoming three-match women’s T20I series against Australia later this month. Eden Carson, Molly Penfold, Hannah Rowe and Bella James have been brought back into the White Ferns squad as New Zealand prepare for another series against the reigning T20 World Cup champions.
The 15-player squad will be led by Melie Kerr and includes 11 members of New Zealand’s squad from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier in 2026. The selections provide the team with a mixture of established international experience and returning players as they prepare for the three-match series in Sydney.
Eden Carson’s return is particularly notable after the off-spinner spent a period on the sidelines following elbow surgery. She had been unavailable since December last year but has now recovered sufficiently to return to the international setup. Carson brings 51 international caps into the squad.
Molly Penfold and Hannah Rowe also return to the pace-bowling group following the recent retirements of Sophie Devine and Lea Tahuhu. Their inclusion gives New Zealand additional options in the fast-bowling department ahead of the Australian challenge.
Bella James has also been recalled to strengthen the batting lineup following the departure of veteran batter Suzie Bates. Her return provides another option for New Zealand as the team continues developing its squad following several changes to the senior group.
The series against Australia will provide New Zealand with an important opportunity to test its new combination against the reigning T20 World Cup champions. With several players returning and others taking on greater responsibilities, the three matches will be an important part of the White Ferns’ preparations for their next phase of international T20 cricket.
