State Bank Opener Smashes 309 Not Out in Record-Breaking Knock
Abdullah Fazal produced one of the most remarkable batting performances of the President’s Trophy Grade-I 2026-27 by scoring an unbeaten 309 for State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) against Ghani. The left-handed opener reached his maiden first-class triple century at the National Ground in Islamabad during the third round of the competition.
Fazal’s innings contained 29 fours and 11 sixes and came from 339 deliveries. He spent more than 10 hours at the crease as SBP built a huge first-innings total. His ability to combine patience with aggressive stroke play allowed him to continue batting deep into the innings and eventually pass the 300-run mark.
The opener received outstanding support from Hasan Raza, who scored 222 from 221 balls. Together, the pair produced a remarkable 417-run opening partnership, one of the highest opening stands in Pakistan domestic cricket. Their partnership placed SBP firmly in control of the match against Ghani.
SBP eventually declared their first innings at 638 for 5, giving them a massive 316-run lead over Ghani, who had previously made 322. Fazal’s unbeaten 309 was therefore the central feature of an innings that completely changed the balance of the match.
Fazal’s triple century was also notable because it was reported as the second-fastest triple century in Pakistan domestic cricket. His 339-ball innings added another major milestone to his first-class career and highlighted the level of batting performances being produced in this season’s President’s Trophy.
By the end of the third day, Ghani had reached 125 for 2 in its second innings but still trailed SBP by 191 runs. Mohsin Riaz was unbeaten on 69, while Mirza Tahir Baig was not out on 45. SBP ultimately went on to complete an innings-and-18-run victory, moving to the top of the tournament table.
