Pakistan Star’s Dismissal Triggers Unusual Scene During Domestic Match
Babar Azam was at the centre of an unusual incident during the President’s Trophy Grade-I match after a group of fans entered the playing area following his dismissal. The Pakistan batter was representing OGDCL against KRL in Islamabad when the incident occurred during the domestic competition.
Babar scored 21 runs before his dismissal, adding another innings to his return to domestic first-class cricket. The former Pakistan captain’s presence has attracted considerable attention since he returned to the President’s Trophy after spending more than six years away from domestic first-class cricket.
After Babar was dismissed, several spectators breached the security arrangements and ran onto the field. The fans attempted to approach the Pakistan batter for photographs and selfies, temporarily disrupting the match and creating an unusual scene around the pitch.
Video footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing the spectators surrounding Babar. Reports said one fan attempted to take a selfie with the batter, while Babar reacted angrily during the unexpected invasion of the playing area.
The incident has once again highlighted the popularity of Babar Azam among Pakistan cricket supporters. Even during a domestic first-class match, the batter attracted significant attention from spectators, with fans attempting to get close to him despite the match being played under normal domestic cricket security arrangements.
Babar’s return to the President’s Trophy has been one of the major talking points of the domestic season. His appearances are being followed closely because first-class cricket gives him an opportunity to spend more time in the longer format and build match practice outside international fixtures.
The latest incident also underlines the importance of maintaining proper security around players. While fan interaction is common in cricket, spectators entering the playing area can interrupt matches and create safety concerns for both players and officials.
