India defeated defending champions Sri Lanka by 72 runs in Dubai to secure their record-extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup championship.
India have once again been crowned champions of Asia after defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final in Dubai. The victory extended India’s record to eight Women’s Asia Cup titles and capped a dominant tournament campaign.
India won the toss and produced an aggressive batting performance, finishing their innings on 183 for five. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana provided the foundation for the total with a spectacular opening partnership.
Shafali scored 68 from 39 deliveries, while Mandhana added 59 from 39 balls. Their 129-run partnership put India firmly in control and allowed the defending champions to attack Sri Lanka’s bowlers from the opening overs.
Sri Lanka needed a strong batting performance to chase down 184 but found themselves under pressure throughout the innings. India’s bowlers continued to create opportunities, and Shree Charani produced the standout spell of the match.
Charani claimed four wickets for 20 runs, while Deepti Sharma also played an important role in breaking Sri Lanka’s resistance. The defending champions struggled to build partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 111.
