The PCB has opened applications for a new men’s national team bowling coach following Ashley Noffke’s departure from the role.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has started the process of finding a new bowling coach for the men’s national team after Ashley Noffke stepped down from his position. The Australian coach informed the PCB of his decision after around 16 months in Pakistan’s coaching setup.
Noffke joined Pakistan’s coaching staff in May 2025 and worked under white-ball head coach Mike Hesson. He was initially appointed as the team’s bowling coach and later took on additional responsibilities as interim Test bowling coach during Pakistan’s recent tour of England.
His departure comes shortly after the Netherlands appointed him as their new head coach on a two-year contract. Noffke is expected to remain with Pakistan for the 2026 Asian Games, where the men’s team will enter the cricket competition at the quarter-final stage on September 28. The Asian Games will therefore be his final assignment with Pakistan.
The PCB has already advertised the vacant bowling coach position. According to the board’s requirements, candidates must hold at least a Level 3 cricket coaching accreditation and have a minimum of five years of relevant coaching experience. Applicants are expected to have experience working with elite, national or international players and demonstrate knowledge of bowling techniques, match analysis and player development.
Applications for the position will remain open until October 8, 2026. The recruitment process will now determine who joins Pakistan’s coaching structure following a period of significant changes to the team management.
The bowling department has undergone several changes during the recent England tour. Noffke had taken over additional Test bowling responsibilities after Umar Gul was removed from the position following Pakistan’s defeats in the first two Tests. Pakistan eventually lost the three-match series 3-0, with Noffke overseeing the bowling group for the final Test.
For Pakistan, the appointment of a new bowling coach will be an important part of rebuilding continuity within the support staff. The successful candidate will work with Pakistan’s fast bowlers and spinners across future international assignments, while also contributing to player development and bowling strategy.
With applications now open, the PCB is expected to review candidates before making a final appointment. Until then, Noffke will remain part of the Pakistan setup for the Asian Games before beginning his new coaching assignment with the Netherlands.
