Mohammad Haris returns to the Guyana Amazon Warriors as a replacement for Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who has left the CPL for Afghanistan duty.
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris has joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the remainder of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League campaign. Haris has been brought into the squad as a replacement for Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who is leaving the tournament to join Afghanistan for their upcoming T20I series against India.
Haris is already familiar with the Guyana setup. The Pakistan batter represented the Amazon Warriors during the Global Super League earlier in the year, meaning his return does not require him to adapt completely to a new franchise environment.
His arrival comes at an important point in the CPL season. Guyana have been among the leading teams in the competition and had already secured their place in the playoffs. The franchise will now look to Haris to provide additional depth in the batting order and wicketkeeping department.
Gurbaz has made a significant contribution to Guyana’s campaign. The Afghanistan opener scored 93 runs in his two CPL innings, including an explosive 54 from 35 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen and 39 from 25 deliveries against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
The Warriors are also losing Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi to international duty. Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been signed as Nabi’s replacement, meaning Guyana have made two significant changes to their overseas group during the latter part of the tournament.
Haris gives the Warriors an aggressive batting option and additional wicketkeeping flexibility. The franchise can also use Shai Hope behind the stumps while selecting other combinations depending on conditions and opposition. Guyana therefore have several options available as they move toward the knockout stage.
The Pakistan batter’s previous experience with the Warriors could make the transition smoother. Having already played for the franchise during the Global Super League, Haris is familiar with the team environment and local conditions.
For Guyana, the challenge will be maintaining momentum after losing two important international players. The Warriors have already established themselves as one of the strongest sides in CPL 2026, and the additions of Haris and Mehidy are designed to keep the squad competitive during the decisive stage of the tournament.
Haris will now have an opportunity to make an impact in one of the world’s major T20 leagues while continuing his development as an international wicketkeeper-batter. His return to Guyana adds another Pakistan connection to a Warriors squad preparing for the CPL playoffs.
