Islamabad U19 Batter Produces Outstanding Knock in Third-Round Opener
Islamabad U19 batter Zakirullah produced a brilliant batting performance by scoring 167 on the opening day of the third round of the National U19 Championship 2026-27. His innings was one of the major highlights as the third round began across different venues in Pakistan on September 29.
Zakirullah’s innings came against Karachi Whites U19 at the Mir Awais Cricket Ground in Peshawar. His contribution helped Islamabad U19 reach 334 for eight at the close of play, putting the side in a strong position after the opening day’s action. Mohammad Abdullah Malik also played an important role, contributing 70 runs.
Karachi Whites U19’s Huzaifa Bin Sajid was among the standout performers with the ball. He claimed six wickets for 138 runs as Islamabad built its total. Karachi Whites then began their reply and finished the day on 73 for two, with Saad Murtaza unbeaten on 44.
The National U19 Championship is an important platform for Pakistan’s young cricketers, providing them with competitive multi-day cricket and an opportunity to develop their skills under domestic conditions. Performances such as Zakirullah’s 167 can help young batters gain attention as they progress through Pakistan’s age-group structure.
The third round also produced several other notable individual performances. In Group A, Rawalpindi U19’s Hasan Khan claimed six wickets for 69 runs against Abbottabad U19. Karachi Whites U19’s Huzaifa also recorded six wickets, making the opening day particularly productive for young bowlers.
Elsewhere, Peshawar Whites U19 reached 102 for one against Bahawalpur after Bahawalpur had been dismissed for 282. Mohammad Ameer Hamza Khan remained unbeaten on 54. In another Group A contest, Faisalabad U19 were bowled out for 163, while Sialkot Whites finished the day on 30 for one.
Zakirullah’s century therefore stood out among a busy opening day of third-round action. With the championship continuing across its groups, Pakistan’s emerging players will have further opportunities to build on their performances and make an impression in the country’s domestic youth cricket system.
